A great abstract Expressionist artist passed today. Thank you Helen Frankenthaler for all of your contributions to the visual arts.
Back when I was around ten, my parents gave me a replica of Frankenthaler’s Mountains and Sea, 1957 from the thrift store to hang in my room. At that time none of us knew who Frankenthaler was but we enjoyed the aesthetics of her painting. I’m glad to still have her painting hanging today.
(Sorry for the blurriness of my photo)
Just got through watching a documentary about the Stanford Prison Study. Very interested in Zimbardo’s studies now.
The past few days I have been watching old Daria episodes. I find myself relating to her in several different ways. Well I’m not as knowledgeable as her but our personalities have a lot of similarities.
Lots of time went into this painting. It can become frustrating painting still life but I’m pretty satisfied with the outcome. I have no title for this painting yet…
Juxtaposition of odd and ordinary. This is from the Oxford American Writer’s Dictionary…What’s wrong with being odd? Seems fine to me.
